And the twins turn three…

A few more days and my world’s favorite pair will turn three.

Isn’t it amazing how children grow so fast?

One day, it was just me and Jeff and without any plans of having children from my end anytime soon after marriage, I got hit with the baby bug.

But not just any baby bug… I was struck with a twin-baby bug.

Since then, motherhood has been a series of hits and misses and while it can be said that it is tough, I have no complaints in our day-to-day activities. It does take mental and emotional maturity to raise one –much more three or 12 –so as I always say, pause before blurting out that you want babies. Because… they don’t come with money-back guarantee. You can’t return then to the sender too.

When the twins were newborns, I was eagerly waiting for one.

When they turned one, I wanted to be over with two because most parents say it is the “terrible stage”.

But now that they are three, I just want them to be babies forever… to stay three forever. I know that is impossible because judging from Nicholas and Antoinette’s voracious appetites, nature sure is not slowing down and it just keeps pumping the twins with growth hormones.

But parents who love the smell of baby shampoo… you know what I mean, right?

I do not have any elaborate birthday plans for them.

We will probably just get one cake with two candles and let them eat the cake… they don’t get much sweets because it is part of the Ruffolo family mantra to limit consumption of sweets. We don’t want tooth decays at three years old.

I only have one wish for my twins on their third birthday: that they continue to hug each other for many years to come.

I have been more than blessed with a happy family… a family who have gotten stronger and fiercer after all the challenges we’ve been through.

On your third birthday, Nicholas and Antoinette, all the angels will sing their praises because you are testaments to God’s never-ending love for humankind. You are two screaming bundles of miracles who gave me more than one reason to be better.

I love you Kaluhey!
