The Rush that was August

I don’t know why time is in a hurry.

She seems to be driving on a fast lane, eager to savor the sweet embrace of her destination and totally oblivious about the joy of enjoying the journey that leads to that destination. I woke up today and it’s already September 14 – almost halfway done with the first of the series of “ber” months leading to Christmas. I woke up thinking about how crazy the past month has been juggling school work (I really thought this would be easy because I am only taking two subjects this semester for this Master’s degree but this academic endeavor has been very demanding) and family life (Jeff is taking most of the work I need to do with the twins. I am starting to feel guilty.).

It’s been a challenge to take pictures and videos of the twins as I find myself finishing one academic reading after another. I love how much I am learning but my time for pleasure reading has been suffering lately. Last night, I took time off from reading anything related to school work and plunged myself into the world of Tom Perrotta’s Little Children, then watched a couple of TEDx videos before turning off my bedside light to give sleep a chance. Jeff was already in deep slumber – miserably tired from playing with the twins and feeding them human food (Yep! No more baby food these days!). I should be able to adjust to this new schedule that involves a lot of studying, writing papers and case studies, and the twins’ more active lifestyle BUT….

But we are leaving this Wednesday. Where? The United States of America. Nope, we are not going to the “land of milk and honey” for good. Jeff and I just realized a few months ago that the twins do need to meet the Ruffolo side of the family. It’ll be a major sky trip and road trip for the four of us and I am still wondering how we would be able to manage our pair of screaming 14-month-old toddlers and three suitcases. I am going back to listing the essentials that we need to bring on this trip after completing this post. For now, let me invite you to check out the August photos of the twins. My apology goes out to the twins’ fans who repeatedly asked me for updates and photos. Enjoy!

My former Chinese language teacher, Grace Shuang, visited us again last month. We live in the same city and she is helping me out in buying train tickets, mobile phones, books, printing essays, etc.
