Products from goat milk? Here they are… #Kabrita #Momsmeet

When you open our refrigerator, expect to see cups and cups of yogurt arranged on the third level shelf. That’s because instead of ice cream, we decided to get our kids hooked to yogurt.

That doesn’t mean we deprive them from having ice cream. We just think that yogurt is a lot healthier than ice cream. Cutting their sugar intake will save me (Cris) from the super intense sugar rush (e.g. running, screaming) that might ensue after ice cream consumption.

We’ve tried more than 10 brands of yogurt. We’ve moved from the store brand Western Family to Chobani to Yoplait and recently Oikos. So when a package from the Moms Meet Blogger program arrived with three pouches of KABRITA Goat Milk Yogurt and Fruit, I knew it was time for another taste test.

I’m the “poison tester” in the family. I eat any food or drink any drink before giving them to the children. So… I tried the mixed berry flavor while my son Nicholas was throwing a tantrum because “Mom, you eat my yogurt”.

I never really paid much attention to goat milk before so I didn’t know what to expect from that first taste.

It was…

… surprisingly…

…good!

The mixed berry flavor has the right combination of sweetness and creaminess. It was tangy but not overpowering. In short, it was Y-U–M-M-Y!

Too bad I had to let it go and pass it on to my son who couldn’t wait to slurp everything inside that pouch.

On the toddler formula

Along with three pouches of delicious goalt milk yogurt and fruit, we also received a 14 oz (400 g) toddler formula from KABRITA.

In local forum that I am part of, Moms whose children suffer from colic, eczema, and constipation swear by the magic of goat milk in addressing their children’s issues so I had this positive concept of goat milk.

KABRITA wrote in its product description that the nutritionally enchanced goat milk formula has 22 vitamins and minerals including iron, folic acid, ARA, AND DHA. Iron is needed for blood cells formation, ARA is essential to support brain development, while DHA is necessary for visual and cognitive development.

Having just recently “landed” in the US, KABRITA shares the message that their milk sources are happy goats raised on family farms in the Netherlands… graze naturally on fresh grasses.

These descriptions convinced me to try the toddler formula.

The twins have been drinking regular fresh milk since they turned two in July 2015 and they’ve always loved milk.

Cow’s milk, that is.

Remember, I am Miss Poison Tester so I had to try this first before I gave it to them.

Quite honestly, I was hesitant to give it to the twins after I tried it as it reminded me of one particular milk brand back in my childhood in the Philippines which my siblings and I really despised with every fiber of our humanity. But I prepared the milk anyway, carefully following the instruction.

Nick, who is never picky with food and drinks, smelled it and gave it to me saying: “Mom, smell bad.” Antoinette did the same. I didn’t want to waste it so I decided to add chocolate powder just to mask the taste and smell. Antoinette took the glass and drank about half of it. As for Nicholas? He won’t have none of it. The boy was pretty decided about not having a sip of it.

My take?

KABRITA’s toddler formula may be free from preservatives and antibiotics but the taste may not suit the tastebuds of some toddlers like my kids. This is not to say that the product is horrible or has a foul smell; it may just be that my twins don’t like the smell and taste.

Those tastebuds may still change though. I’ve seen them dislike potatoes for a year and now they can’t just have enough of homemade Potatoes O’Brien and French fries.

So…let’s see.

We’ll try again tomorrow.

KABRITA Goat Milk Toddler Formula retails for $21.99 for 14 oz. and $41.99 for
28 oz.
