Saving Fish from Drowning is a classic masterpiece by Amy Tan as she expertly and magically interweaves the life stories of 12 people in one novel back-dropped against the political turmoil of Burma/Myanmar. The wanderlusts and Asian enthusiasts among us are given vivid descriptions of China and Myanmar and the myriad of experiences awaiting travelers to these places.

The omnipresent voice of Bibi Chen in this book is a literary delight that indirectly invites readers to look into their spiritual health and how in tune they are with their inner selves.

Saving Fish From Drowning is my second favorite Amy Tan novel (next to The Joy Luck Club); one that you should never ever let anyone borrow or else it won’t find its way back to your bookshelf or your bedside table.
