Product Review: More products to try out for babies and toddlers from Tupperware Brands

When new brands are introduced to me and this household, I take extra effort to test the products for weeks (and sometimes, months) before I write my product review.

After all, this is a product review. It is not meant to solely impress the sponsor (or just sing high praises of their products because they were given for free). I believe that any brand, with honest-to-goodness intention to listen to the comments of its consumers, would take note of constructive criticisms because this spells opportunity to create better products.

It is not a secret among readers of this blog that I am a huge fan of organic products. I am very inlove with Human Nature and that is evident from the many positive product reviews I wrote about the different HN products ranging from soaps, soothing balm, and massage oil.

Coming home to the Philippines for a momentary break from the US, the invitation to review baby and toddler products from Tupperware Brands’ Baby Care Plus+ and Kids Care Plus+ came at a time when I was telling my children’s Ate Joy that I received several baby/toddler/mother/family-oriented products in the US to review for this blog. I am seeing a growing trend in the Philippines for companies to send out sample products (and even services!) to consumer to solicit their comments and suggestions.

Around mid-September, I received a box full of products from Tupperware Brands in our Cebu home. The box contained the following:

Baby Care Plus+: baby bath, baby shampoo, baby powder, baby lotion, baby cologne
Kids Plus+: hypoallergenic  bath, shampoo, powder, cologne, lotion
Mom Plus+: stretch mark cream, ultra moisturizing bar, soothing relief balm

I have three children: Nicholas and Antoinette, our three-year-old fraternal twins, tried out the Kids Plus products while one-year-old cutiepie Jeff Junior used the products under Baby Care Plus. I used the three products from Mom Plus+ but I will reserve my review for these three products in another post.

The panel reviewers are myself, Ate Joy, and my Mom, Maria Elena.

Baby Care Plus

Jeff Junior is a fairly easy baby. He only cries when he is sleepy and hungry and that has been consistent from newborn stage up to this time that he is an active 13-month old.

He does not have sensitive skin so I am, most of the time, brave to try out new products on him.

The baby powder, the brand declares, has Allantoin known as an active moisturing ingredient that is derived from the root of the comfrey herb.

If you google Allantoin, articles would tell you that it is a safe anti-irritant used in the skincare industry. We’ve used the baby powder on JJ’s back when we put him to sleep and he enjoys the bedtime routine of bath and powder. Ate Joy said the powdery scent is similar to Johnson and Johnson’s baby powder (the blue one)! I like that it stays true to its promise of being low-dusting thus decreasing the risk of inhalation.

I do not like the lotion because JJ doesn’t like this on him. It feels heavy and the smell reminds me of a perfumed lotion a former househelp used. The cologne deserves a special shoutout because in a home where the mother easily gets migraines from perfume/cologne inhalation, this is the first one in such a long time that did not trigger any headaches.

The baby shampoo and baby bath are especially good to use after your baby (in my case, my 13-month-old) just played with his older siblings for an hour or so. It erases the sweaty smell and leaves that newborn baby scent I sorely miss.

Kids Plus

My daughter has sensitive skin. We were told by the doctor to stop feeding her eggs and chicken, which was a big letdown for Antoinette who loves to eat both. Skincare products — specifically soap, shower gel and lotion — were limited to two expensive brands. After a month’s usage, I decided to switch back to the regular organic brand we use at home and then tried out other products.

The Kids Plus product line was one of those we tried out.

Antoinette particularly liked the lotion because she said it smelled good. Nicholas, apart from loving the feel of the baby powder, told me that “it’s nice” when I “put it (on) my back”. The twins look foward to bath time because they like the shampoo and bath liquid. I think it is because of the packaging. My personal favorite in this line is the cologne… not overpowering and stays on for quite a long time. I like it more than their Belo and Bench counterparts.

VERDICT

The price range is almost the same as the products I buy from Human Nature. On that aspect, I think I am going to stay with HN in general.

But… I like the powder and the cologne for Baby Care Plus and Kids Plus so I already ordered new sets from a friend who is a brand dealer.

Products under Baby Care Plus and Kids Plus are good alternatives to Johnson and Johnson’s, Belo and Bench.

However, if you and your family are already using affordable organic/ natural products such as Human Nature and you are happy with the results, it will be very difficult to switch to news brands. In my case, I am sticking to Human Nature for most of the baby and toddler products. Price range is almost the same and I am assured that only the safest and most natural ingredients are in the products that my children use.
