Reading Maps

I did not make any New Year resolution this year. But I think I should… And my resolution should be: “I resolve to learn how to read maps, properly.” My husband calls me a “world traveller”. Some friends call me “Dora the Explorer”. My mother calls me “laagan” (that could …

The Beauty of a Story

Written and published on January 27, Tuesday at 7:03 p.m. Paris Time.

It was freezing cold today but we went out anyway and toured Paris Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios – both located about 10 minutes from our townhouse.

There were three rides I liked the most – (1) Pirates of the Caribbean; (2) Phantom Manor; and (3) Big Thunder Mountain. Yep, arranged according to preference. Why? Because of the following criteria: attention to details, spontaneity, element of surprise, space and face. All three are located near each other. We were there from 10 a.m. (the time when the park opened) and left around 5:00 p.m. We were just so hungry and the only restaurants opened was a burger-and-fries joint that serve horrible burger and fries. And we are talking about spending in Euros here. While Jeff was not doing the conversion game, I was at it with much gusto. By now, I have mastered my estimates of euro-to-dollar calculations.

Before we left, I dragged Jeff to go inside Sleeping Beauty Castle with me. I know he would not refuse because it did not involve any thrill ride (he wholeheartedly refused taking Space Mountain and Indiana Jones). Inside the castle, we were treated to this visual storytelling of Sleeping Beauty’s story. Story is in French.

And they live happily ever after…

On Main Street USA, I found this store.

Back home, I am comforted with a working internet connection and Jeff cooking dinner. It’s not 7:58 p.m. in Paris and  we are about to eat our first real meal of the day.

I saw the Eiffel Tower the other day onboard the bus but we are going to climb it tomorrow (January 28). Getting my thermal jacket ready!

Love from Paris.
