Former introduction of The Reading Ruffolos

Hi, I am Cris Ruffolo!

I love to read, write, and tell stories. I am crazy about books and I love to make others feel the same. I started this weblog in December 2013 out of a three-year plan to start a project that will push me to read, write and tell stories. I stopped working full time in December 2013 (that’s why I was able to start The Reading Ruffolos) to focus on raising the two people you see in the pictures above.

Their names are Nicholas and Antoinette. They are fraternal twins and I am drawing inspiration from them to be better in reading, writing and storytelling. I am learning how to write children’s books and craft instructional materials. These are things I have always wanted to do before, but they took the clichéd backseat as my jobs as a journalist and as a social development worker became my priorities then.

But it’s never too late, they say. Despite being busy (and crazy) with the twins, I will find time to sustain this project. My husband, whose name is Jeff, is my cheerleader in making all these possible. I am also a founding member of a volunteer storytelling and reading advocate group called Basadours. My involvement in this group inspires me to be a better storyteller.

This weblog documents my varied experiences and learnings, introduces the people I encounter, presents the events I organized and/or attended, and publishes some stories I wrote. This is my way of setting an example that reading, writing and storytelling can be seamlessly integrated in our daily activities.

This weblog will also showcase videos and photos of Nicholas and Antoinette as they are growing. I hope you don’t mind.

This is The Reading Ruffolos – our advocacy and legacy weblog on reading, writing and storytelling. Join us in our journey!
