A Montebello kind of life (Review of Montebello Villa Hotel)

Fancy a day away?

How about two?

You can’t go wrong by spending your hard-earned break from the world at Montebello Villa Hotel — one of Cebu’s only garden hotel destination in this bustling metropolis.

Sitting on hectares of prime open green space – truly one of the last open spaces left in the “Queen City of the South” – you will instantly fall in love with this place.

Here’s the official on-line synopsis:

“Montebello Villa Hotel remains to be the only garden hotel at the heart of the oldest city in the Philippines. With an enchanting four-hectare hacienda, it reflects the richness and charm of Cebu’s Hispanic heritage. It is a perfect blend for business and leisure with a combined atmosphere of luxury and comfort in total commune with nature”.

As a long time hotel and resort connoisseur, there are instantly things I loved about being at Montebello:

Warm and inviting staff

From the moment you pull up to the entrance, you are immediately greeted by staff with a smile. Not a programmed smile and certainly not faked because at the family-owned and operated Montebello, you are an immediately welcomed as one of their extended family. From the Front Desk through all of the service locations, spending time a Montebello is like being home.

Not someone else’s home but your own.

Great Ambiance

Montebello rests on one of the last remaining green belts in the city. I was totally at ease letting any of our three kids run wild and free. A stark contract to the sanitized shopping malls that dot the landscape of Cebu. At Montebello, you find real grass and real trees and the freedom to let any family member sit and relax at their leisure.

Terrific Cuisine

Our twins, Nicholas and Antoinette, enjoying their birthday cakes last July 1.

Be it fried chicken for lunch of an all veggie omelet for breakfast, pretty much everything at Montebello is cooked exactly to order. The service staff is warm and engaging and the attention to detail is meticulous.

The food is scrumptious and I certainly recommend Sunday Brunch with all the trimmings.

Exceptional Accommodations

In a pure Spanish style from the “old country”, Montebello may look a bit dated to the uninitiated but inside, I found our room to be lush and lovely with all the modern amenities.

The beds are cozy soft and the room was spacious.

And of course there two swimming pools – and a small “kid’s pool” for the younger set – making the day complete.

You can’t go wrong with a day-long breakaway (or more) from the hustle and bustle of city life to spend at this charming and beautiful oasis.

Montebello truly has something for everyone.

A great “Family Affair” indeed!
